Mae Hong Son Governor Vibul Waebbundit travelled to Mae Sariang District on August 21 to monitor the flooding and landslide situation caused by heavy rainfall in the area, offering encouragement and coordinating relief efforts. He inspected Highway 108, where 35 sections of road have been blocked by mudslides, and instructed relevant agencies to reopen routes urgently while the provincial electricity authority surveyed power outages to restore electricity quickly.
The governor then visited families of a deceased victim in Mae Hao District to offer condolences and distribute emergency aid packages. He directed local authorities to accelerate the compensation payment process for affected families. He also ordered inspections of embankments in Ban Pong and sections of Mae Sariang River affected by bank erosion in Ban Na Kao to assess damage and develop long-term prevention strategies.
All agencies have been instructed to maintain 24-hour surveillance of heavy rainfall, river water levels, and landslide-risk areas, with public safety as the highest priority.
