Major Recycling Warehouse Fire Engulfs Ayutthaya Sky in Smoke
A major fire destroyed a recycling warehouse in Ayutthaya's Bang Pa-in district early September 4, with firefighters battling the blaze for two hours to prevent it from spreading to nearby properties; the cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters responding to an emergency call at 1 a.m. on September 4, 2025, found a recycling warehouse in Bang Pa-in district, Ayutthaya province, fully engulfed in flames. The facility, covering about 1.5 rai, stored large quantities of plastic bottles, paper waste, and various recyclable materials collected from multiple sources and sold by residents for processing and sorting. The highly combustible materials fueled an intense fire that generated thick plumes of black smoke visible across the province.
Almost 10 fire trucks from Ban Sai municipality and nearby local government organizations raced to the scene to fight the blaze. Firefighters focused on containing the fire and preventing it from spreading to adjacent properties, including another secondhand goods shop and vehicle repair workshops in the vicinity. After approximately two hours of sustained water pressure and defensive operations, officials managed to bring the fire under control and limit its spread.
Ayutthaya Governor Chawanintr Wongstittijirkhal visited the scene to assess the damage. He confirmed that the warehouse and yard stored recycled materials purchased from various locations and brought in by residents for sorting and recycling processing. Three warehouse workers were on duty at the time, and no injuries were initially reported. Investigators have not yet determined the fire's origin and plan to conduct a detailed examination of the burn site to establish the cause.
