Major Rice Shop Fire Destroys Five Shophouses, Seven Million Baht Loss
A rice and gas cylinder shop fire destroyed five shophouses in Krabi's Khao Phanom area on September 5, causing at least seven million baht in damage with no injuries reported.
A major fire destroyed five shophouses and caused damage estimated at no less than seven million baht when it broke out at a large rice and gas cylinder shop in Khao Phanom on September 5, 2569. Police from Khao Phanom Station received the alarm at 4:30 p.m. and immediately coordinated with Khao Phanom Subdistrict Municipality and nearby local administrative organizations to combat the blaze on Khao Phanom Soi Road near Khao Phanom Municipal School in Khao Phanom Subdistrict, Krabi Province.
The fire burned intensely in a densely populated residential area, producing thick smoke and triggering repeated gas cylinder explosions. Because the shop sold rice and gas cylinders, firefighters deployed extensive water suppression efforts for more than an hour before controlling the flames and preventing spread to neighboring homes. Four shophouses were completely destroyed and one was partially damaged. Property losses included approximately ten gas cylinders inside the shop, one car, and three motorcycles.
Witnesses at the fire-origin house reported hearing a loud explosion-like sound followed by smoke and rapidly spreading flames, prompting them to alert firefighters and police. Three residents were in the house at the time of the fire with no injuries or deaths reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Krabi authorities.
