Man Charged After Jet Skiing Through Bangkok Flood
A 28-year-old man and his companion were charged after jet skiing through flooded Bangkok streets on Petchburi Road and posting the stunt online, claiming they wanted to entertain flood victims.
Police have identified the jet ski driver as a 28-year-old named Sorn and his companion Prao, who filmed the stunt, after footage of them riding through flooded streets on Petchburi Road—north of the Ekkamai intersection in the Huay Khwang district—went viral on social media on September 27, 2024. During initial questioning, both suspects admitted to appearing in the video and committing the offense, claiming ignorance and saying they only wanted to make people smile while they were suffering from the flooding. The pair, described as schoolchildren unfamiliar with Thai culture, have been charged with intentionally causing embarrassment or nuisance to others and unlawfully obstructing traffic without authorization from traffic police. Officers plan to file charges with the court on September 28, 2024, and will seek an order to confiscate the jet ski.
