Man Found Shot Dead Days After Hospital Discharge
A 43-year-old man found shot dead in his Nakhon Pathom bedroom days after heart surgery had been experiencing stress over his condition and inability to care for himself, police said.
A 43-year-old man recently discharged from hospital was found shot dead in his bedroom, with police suspecting stress from his medical condition as the cause.
At 8:40 a.m. on September 23, Deputy Lieutenant Kitti Lapprakard, an investigator with Muang Nakhon Pathom Police Station, responded to a report of a shooting death at a residential house in Muang Nakhon Pathom district. Officers, a duty doctor from Nakhon Pathom Central Hospital, and staff from the Nakhon Pathom Suksan Foundation attended the scene.
Inside the bedroom, officers found the body of the deceased, identified as Mr. Thanit (surname withheld), 43 years old, bearing a gunshot wound to the right side of the head. A 9-millimeter firearm was discovered near his bedside, and a gun holster was found on a safe next to the bed. Both items were collected as evidence. A thorough inspection of the room revealed no signs of struggle, violence, or theft.
When officers questioned family members, they learned that Mr. Thanit had a heart condition and had recently undergone surgery at the hospital on September 14. Upon returning home, doctors closed the incision on his chest. After discharge, the patient experienced stress related to both the wound and his illness, and was unable to fully care for himself. Police believe this mounting stress was a contributing factor to the incident.
Officers subsequently transferred the body to Nakhon Pathom Central Hospital for autopsy to determine the exact cause before releasing it to family members for funeral arrangements.
