Man Kills Former Business Partner in Knife Attack on Koh Tao
A 40-year-old man was arrested on Koh Tao after fatally stabbing his former business partner with a knife during a dispute at a curry shop on September 3, 2026.
Koh Tao police responded on September 3, 2026, to reports of an altercation involving a knife attack at a curry shop between Boon Sri and Lam Phraya piers in Koh Tao village, Koh Phangan district, Surat Thani province. When officers arrived, they found large amounts of blood outside the shop and a 63-year-old man named Sorchai who had been severely injured. He was rushed to Koh Tao Hospital.
Investigators identified the suspect as Jirasak, also known as Golf, age 40. The two men had a longstanding dispute stemming from their partnership in a tattoo shop business. During the incident, Jirasak encountered Sorchai at the curry shop, an argument ensued, and Jirasak grabbed a knife from inside the shop and repeatedly attacked Sorchai, causing severe injuries in front of shocked tourists and local residents.
After the attack, Jirasak fled toward Lam Phraya pier, attempting to travel to Chumphon province, but was apprehended by police. Sorchai was later pronounced dead at Koh Tao Hospital from wounds to the neck, shoulder, and below the breast. Jirasak was taken into police custody and legal proceedings were initiated.
