On September 8, Hua Hin Provincial Court handed down a death sentence to Sam for the robbery and murder of a hotel worker in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. The crime occurred around 3:15 a.m. on January 19, when the defendant attacked the hotel employee on duty, striking her head repeatedly with an iron rod to steal her belongings, then fled the scene. Security camera footage provided crucial evidence.
After his arrest and prosecution, Sam confessed in court. However, the court found the crime to be exceptionally violent and shocking, noting the defendant's brutal manner of committing the offense caused severe harm to the victim's family. Despite his confession, the judge ruled there were no mitigating circumstances warranting leniency, imposing the death sentence.
This marks the second death sentence issued by Hua Hin Provincial Court. The first was in the high-profile case of a man known as Games, who murdered a woman named Gaem on a train—a case that shocked the nation. Games' sentence was later commuted to life imprisonment.
The defendant retains the right to appeal and file further legal remedies as provided by law.
