Manchester United Cancels Ederson Deal Over Medical Concerns
Manchester United has cancelled its £35 million deal to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson after medical tests revealed knee problems the club deemed too serious to overlook.
Manchester United has reportedly cancelled its agreement to sign midfielder Ederson from Atalanta after the player failed his latest medical examination. Sky Sports Italy reported that the English Premier League club decided to pull out of the transfer of Ederson, a midfielder from Italian Serie A side Atalanta, following concerns raised in the medical tests.
In early June, Manchester United had reached an agreement with Atalanta to purchase Ederson for £35 million, and an initial medical examination had been conducted. However, the Red Devils appeared unconvinced by the results.
Ederson was subsequently called up to Brazil's 2026 World Cup squad to replace injured Wesley. Manchester United had agreed to allow the 26-year-old player to undergo a more detailed medical examination after completing his international duties.
However, recent reports indicate that Manchester United decided to cancel the deal after reviewing the medical results, as Ederson appeared to have knee problems that were too concerning to overlook.
Reports also suggest that Atalanta believes Ederson is in good health and is willing to welcome the midfielder back into their team plans.
