May Rachanok Proud to Represent Thailand at Asian Games
Thailand's badminton star May Rachanok completed her fourth Asian Games campaign in what could be her final appearance, losing in the semifinals but expressing pride in competing for her country.
May Rachanok Intanon, Thailand's celebrated singles badminton player, posted a message after concluding her campaign at the 20th Asian Games, stating that her greatest pride was competing for Thailand. Before the Games started, May announced this could be her final Asian Games appearance before losing to South Korea's world number one An Se-young in the semifinals.
Following her Asian Games campaign, May posted on social media: "This is my fourth Asian Games appearance, starting when I was 16 years old. After sitting out the previous Games, I came back to compete again. I gave my all to try to be the best athlete I could be—not necessarily in the sense of being the perfect best athlete, but in trying to be the best version of myself. Of course, we cannot always accomplish everything we set out to do, but what we can do is keep fighting every day. I feel my time is running out, but I am grateful to the people who have continuously encouraged and believed in me. My puzzle may not be perfect, but I will do my best to complete it. What I am most proud of is that I got to compete for Thailand."
May Rachanok has won medals at the Asian Games, including a silver medal in 2010 and a bronze medal in 2018 in the women's team event.
