Minister Denies Personal Adviser Link to Assault Case
Natural Resources Minister Suchat Chomklin denied that lawyer Natthawut Wongniam, linked to an assault case involving a former election official, is his personal adviser, saying he only hired him for a few cases as a legal specialist.
At 10:30 a.m. on September 8, 2025, at Parliament, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suchat Chomklin addressed his connection to Natthawut Wongniam following an assault case involving former Election Commission member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn. Suchat acknowledged knowing Natthawut as a lawyer and having hired him for 2-3 cases that ended according to the employment contract.
He confirmed that Natthawut is not his personal adviser and stressed that both are adults, so he cannot prohibit Natthawut's actions. Suchat said that attempting to control him could result in backlash, making it Natthawut's personal responsibility. When asked about pending work, Suchat denied any ongoing arrangement, noting that while politicians naturally maintain networks of acquaintances, individual opinions differ.
Regarding Natthawut, Suchat said that although he knew him and hired him, he does not consult him on every case, as he has a team of 10 legal specialists he rotates based on their expertise. However, when public concerns arose, Suchat stated he discontinued using Natthawut's services immediately and does not support such situations. He thanked media and colleagues for their calls, reiterating that Natthawut is merely an acquaintance, not a personal adviser.
