Myanmar President Hosts Thai Business Forum in Bangkok
Myanmar President and Thai PM addressed business leaders at Bangkok's Thai-Myanmar Business Forum, presenting new investment opportunities and discussing regulatory frameworks for expanding trade between the two countries.
The Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Association held the Thai-Myanmar Business Forum to present new perspectives on entering Myanmar's business landscape, featuring new ventures, fresh opportunities, and growth potential. Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Myanmar President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing were invited to deliver keynote addresses to Thai and Myanmar business communities at the Sirikit National Convention Centre.
On August 5, 2569, Pisanu Suvannachard, chairman of the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Association, announced the "Thai-Myanmar Business Forum 2026" was organized as a foundational initiative outlining "A New Chapter in Thailand-Myanmar Business Partnership" at Bangkok's Sirikit National Convention Centre on August 6, 2569. The morning sessions at 9:00 a.m. featured a business seminar on "Business Opportunities in Myanmar" and a 9:45 a.m. business clinic for potential investors interested in Myanmar operations, both organized by the Thai Business Association in Myanmar (TBAM) and the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).
The afternoon's highlight ran from 2:30–3:00 p.m., featuring keynote remarks from Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Myanmar President Senior General Min Aung Hlaing addressing Thai and Myanmar business leaders. Three concurrent panel discussions followed: "Building a Future-Ready Regulatory Environment for Successful and Sustainable Business in Myanmar" (3:00–3:45 p.m.), "Reimagining Thailand-Myanmar Connectivity: From Existing Links to Future Opportunities" (3:45–4:30 p.m.), and "Unlocking the Next Frontier of Thailand-Myanmar Business Partnership: New Sectors, New Opportunities, New Growth" (4:30–5:15 p.m.).
Pisanu stated the association carefully prepared this forum to strengthen business ties between the two nations, helping Thai entrepreneurs understand the real conditions, regulations, and requirements for doing business in Myanmar. Thailand and Myanmar have long been close neighbors and friends, and the private sector should deepen mutual understanding across various dimensions. Founded in 2550 (2007), the Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Association serves as a catalyst for promoting goodwill and understanding between the two countries, particularly at the grassroots level, which forms the foundation for strong bilateral relations.
