Officials Urge Calm as Villagers Evict Seven Families Over Dream
Mae Hong Son officials are calling for calm after villagers evicted seven families based on a child's dream, threatening to kill them. The district chief denounced the actions as illegal, stressing that personal beliefs cannot justify accusations. Police are monitoring the situation and advising the affected families to file formal complaints for protection.
Mae Hong Son district chief Khampan Mokthaisong stated that the evictions are unlawful and cannot be justified by superstition or dreams. He affirmed that as long as the seven families earn a honest living and do not disturb others, they have every right to remain in the village and in Thailand. Authorities have instructed village heads and sub-district heads to monitor the situation and prevent illegal actions or conflict, while coordinating with Kong Koi Police Station to deploy plainclothes patrol units. Villagers have been advised to file formal complaints or police reports as evidence for future protection. The displaced families have sought help from the Sai Mai Tong Rot Facebook page to involve national agencies and senior police, arguing that being expelled and threatened over a dream is unreasonable and a severe violation of human rights.
