Thai Defender Says Club Wrongly Ended Contract Post-Surgery
Thai defender Piyachanok Darit says his contract with Roi Et PB United was unfairly terminated after he underwent surgery to remove a cyst and missed training while recovering. He claims he kept the club informed about his medical condition and was ready to return after stitches were removed, but the team said his wound had not healed and accused him of violating discipline. Piyachanok has taken to social media to protest the decision and defend his rights.
Piyachanok Darit, the tall defender, posted angrily, saying he had to undergo surgery, which prevented him from training with the team during his recovery. When he returned, the club told him his contract was terminated. Piyachanok Darit, the tall defender and former youth player of Bangkok Glass FC or BG Pathum United, who previously signed with Roi Et PB United, a Thai League 3 club in the northeastern region, posted several heated messages on his personal Facebook page, such as 'Resting the body = violating club discipline' or 'It's time to demand justice – can't tell good from bad,' and 'I was unfairly told my contract was terminated; I will exercise my right to defend myself.' The 191‑centimeter‑tall defender later told the Jet Worapat page that he had undergone surgery to remove a fatty cyst at the nape of his neck and needed to rest for the wound to heal. He said he had continuously informed the club about the process and told them he would return to training after stitch removal. After the stitches were removed, he reported back for a fitness check, but the club’s medical staff said his wound had not healed enough, so he was not allowed to train. He said he saw a doctor again to check the wound, but afterwards he was informed that he had committed a serious disciplinary violation, the grounds for contract termination being his lack of participation with the team, not attending training, and not sitting and chatting with teammates.
