Pattani FC Draws BG Pathumthani in Southern Economic Boost Match
Pattani FC drew 0-0 with BG Pathumthani in a match that drew over 17,000 fans to Songkhla and boosted the local economy through hotel bookings and retail sales across the region.
Deputy Police Colonel Tawee Sodsingh, an adviser to the parliamentary committee on law, justice, and human rights, attended the Pattani FC versus BG Pathumthani match at Tinsoolanan Stadium in Songkhla on September 4 with his family and Pheu Thai party leadership. Over 17,000 fans filled the stadium for the match, which was promoted as a means to drive southern Thailand's economic growth.
Before the match, Tawee said football embodies hope and joy for ordinary people and represents the heart and soul of the south. He urged fans to support Pattani FC, the first southern team to compete in Thailand's top division, and wished them success and victory.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw. Afterwards, Tawee praised Pattani FC's performance, noting that the match brought happiness and encouragement to fans, including nearly 2,000 who rode motorcycles from the three southernmost border provinces to attend.
Tawee told media that the match had boosted the local economy significantly, filling hotels and driving sales at shops and restaurants throughout Songkhla. "Football can be a vital tool for economic and social development," he said. "I hope this will bring pride, happiness, and renewed economic and social prosperity to all of us, both those who attended and those who cheered from home."
