Food Delivery Rider Dies in Crash With 18-Wheel Truck
A 50-year-old food delivery rider died in Samut Prakan after her motorcycle crashed into a parked 18-wheel truck on the Banga-Trat Highway, with witnesses indicating brake failure caused the collision.
Police at Bang Kaew Station responded to a fatal motorcycle accident at 4 p.m. on September 4, 2025, on the Banga-Trat Highway outbound service road at kilometer 10 in Bang Plee District, Samut Prakan province. Rescue teams and volunteers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation found a badly damaged motorcycle wedged against the rear of a parked 18-wheel truck in the left lane. The body of Ms. Nitya, age 50, the motorcycle driver, was found on the vehicle, killed by the impact.
When her husband, Surachai, arrived at the scene and saw her body, he collapsed in shock. He revealed that his wife worked as a motorcycle taxi driver on the Banga-Trat Highway at the 6-kilometer mark and took supplementary work as a food delivery rider. She was on her way to deliver food to a customer when the accident occurred.
Witnesses told police that the deceased's motorcycle failed to brake in time to avoid the parked truck and crashed into its rear with great force. The truck driver, Supakij, age 45, stated that he was transporting goods to the Khlong Song Nam Suvarnabhumi area and had stopped roadside to eat noodles for approximately 30 minutes. When he returned to his vehicle and was preparing to depart, he discovered the accident had occurred.
Police at Bang Kaew Station questioned the truck driver for further investigation and reviewed witnesses and closed-circuit camera footage. The deceased's body was transferred to Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital for autopsy.
