Missing Woman Found Safe After Week With Boyfriend
A 33-year-old woman missing for a week in Chiang Mai was found safe after voluntarily traveling with her ex-boyfriend; police located her on a minibus heading to Kanchanaburi after she regained phone contact with family.
A 33-year-old woman reported missing on August 28 has been found safe after seven days out of contact. She had traveled to Chiang Mai with a man named Nart, a former boyfriend she had rekindled contact with after he was released from prison earlier this year on drug charges. Her mother disapproved of the relationship. Police tracked Nart's pickup truck to Chiang Dao in Chiang Mai and found it abandoned, with evidence suggesting Nart had fled across the border to a neighboring country, though there was no indication the woman had crossed with him.
The woman contacted her family on September 4 at around 6:39 p.m., saying her phone had been repaired and she would video call later. Police from Sabprab Station in Lampang coordinated to locate her, finding her aboard a Chiang Mai-Kanchanaburi minibus. When questioned, she stated she had traveled to Chiang Mai voluntarily with Nart, was not coerced or physically harmed, and had been unreachable only because her phone had no signal. She confirmed she was safe. Police allowed her to continue home to Kanchanaburi.
