PM Anuthon Defends Record Ahead of Opposition No-Confidence Vote

Prime Minister Anuthon Chaleweerakul said on September 18 at Government House that he maintains weekly discussions with cabinet ministers and plans to schedule a formal dinner with coalition party leaders. When asked whether any ministers had requested adjustments over the past six months, the PM said he has instructed all of them to work at full capacity and deliver concrete, tangible results. He noted he is in constant contact with key coalition figures including Labour Minister Julphand Amornviwat, the Pheu Thai Party leader, and Agriculture Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, though no date has been set for the meal. The PM stressed that dining together is not essential, as discussions happen continuously by phone. He said he maintains channels with trusted leaders and does not need to meet with every minister individually. When asked if the government is preparing for another opposition no-confidence motion, the PM said it is ready to respond to all matters, noting that every government decision and action has been based on national and public benefit with sincere intent. He pointed out that he faced similar scrutiny when serving as Public Health Minister but consistently received the highest confidence votes. He expressed no concern about a new motion, saying he has never intentionally acted illegally and works according to just two or three guiding principles. The PM also remarked that retiring civil servants he recently spoke with praised the government's support for their agencies, giving him confidence that the current administration is delivering real benefits through public servants.
