PM Anutin Cooks Flood Relief Meals, Urges More Salt
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul visited the Bhumjaithai Party’s flood‑relief kitchen in Bangkok, where he helped cook fried pork and basil pork stir‑fried rice and urged cooks to add more salt. He said the kitchen will stay open until the flood situation improves, noting that over 22,000 meal boxes have been distributed so far thanks to donated ingredients. Members of the public receiving food asked for photos and called for the ‘Thai Helps Thai’ assistance program to continue until the New Year.
At 6:00 p.m. on October 1, 2026, at the Bhumjaithai Party headquarters, Anutin Charnvirakul, who serves as both Prime Minister and Minister of Interior and as party leader, visited the party’s field kitchen that is preparing meals for flood victims in Bangkok. He was accompanied by Supamas Isarabhakdi, Minister attached to the Prime Minister’s Office and party treasurer, who oversees the kitchen, along with several party MPs who helped with cooking.
Upon arrival, Anutin greeted those waiting for food before inspecting the makeshift kitchen, which was serving fried pork and basil chicken stir‑fried rice. He tasted the dishes and told the cooks to increase the saltiness in every menu. He also joined in the cooking, frying pork, stir‑frying basil chicken, preparing the sauce and adding dark soy sauce, then scooping rice topped with the basil pork stir‑fry to sample. He said the food was delicious but could use a little more seasoning.
He then returned to taste the fried pork, advised the cooks to boost flavor, and spoke in Northeastern dialect, saying “It’s not salty enough; I want it salty—once the other flavors are right, it still lacks salt.” He then invited Trisulee Trisaranakul, the Prime Minister’s secretary and party registrar, to join the tasting.
Anutin also posed for photos with the public receiving meals. One person said they hoped the “Thai Helps Thai Plus” program would continue until the New Year.
Afterwards, Anutin went on to his evening duties, noting that the Bhumjaithai kitchen is now better prepared, with volunteers and support from various sources. Since opening, no expenses have been incurred because donors have supplied ingredients, for which he expressed gratitude. He pledged to work hard to get the meals to as many people as possible. He added that yesterday (September 30, 2026) they distributed 10,000 meal boxes, and today another 12,000, showing increased capacity, and the kitchen will remain open until the situation returns to normal.
