PM Orders Rapid Response Teams for Southern Border Violence Relief
1h ago Khaosod

On August 23, 2569, Prime Minister Anuthlin Charnveerakul and the Interior Minister directed security operations in response to violence in the southern border provinces and ordered continued care for affected residents. The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center (SBPAC) has been tasked with accelerating relief and compensation efforts to ensure citizens quickly access their legal rights. Support covers direct victims, families, vulnerable groups, and those facing economic losses.

The SBPAC has established a communications and legal aid operations center using a case management system with dedicated case managers working at both the regional and individual case levels. Rapid Response teams from all three southern border provinces are already deployed in the field to identify affected persons, verify their eligibility, and track access to assistance while identifying obstacles and responsible parties with clear timelines for resolution.

A hotline 1880 has been opened for affected residents and families to call with questions about their rights and to request immediate assistance. Each case is entered into the case management system for ongoing tracking. The center will maintain a real-time dashboard categorizing cases by color—green for resolved, yellow for in-progress, orange for incomplete documentation, and red for unreached—so officials can instantly see which cases are delayed and where action is needed. Progress updates will be communicated publicly.

The Prime Minister emphasized that struggling residents should not have to seek out government offices; the state must reach out to the people. Support must clarify how each family was affected, what compensation they are entitled to, where their case stands, what obstacles exist, who is responsible, and when resolution will occur. Care will cover medical treatment and rehabilitation for the injured, family and mental health support especially for elderly, children, women, and vulnerable groups, as well as compensation for damaged homes, property, businesses, and lost livelihoods.

Miss Universe 2025 Defends Standing Up for Her Dignity

Miss Universe 2025 Fatima Al-Mansouri defended her actions after a dispute with pageant organizer Nawat Anucha, stating she won't regret standing up for her dignity despite facing intimidation and legal threats.

Fatima Al-Mansouri, Miss Universe 2025, has broken her silence over a dispute with Nawat Anucha Irkskairayisil, who previously announced plans to press charges against her for defamation and spreading false statements. The Miss Universe Organization subsequently issued a statement of support for Fatima, emphasizing principles of dignity, safety, and women's rights. The two have continued to exchange messages on social media.

Fatima posted on social media saying it is time to tell her story from her own perspective. "I hope that tomorrow, no woman will have to face what I have faced. It is deeply concerning that in the 21st century, women still face intimidation simply for expressing their views, setting boundaries, and demanding to be treated with dignity and respect," she wrote.

"I do not regret defending my space that day. Although the impact of this incident continues months later, if there is one thing I want other women to learn from my story, it is this: standing up for your own dignity should not be a reason to live in fear or threats. Let no threat silence women from fighting for a society where women can speak freely without worrying about punishment for using their voice. The whole world saw what happened that day. Everything has been recorded. There is nothing more to say."

"Today I break my silence so that tomorrow, no woman will have to choose between dignity and her own safety."

Meanwhile, Nawat Anucha posted on Instagram Stories: "No one is above the law. Stop taking advantage of others and creating false narratives. Let the truth and the law be the judge."

Nawat Anucha, currently processing a warrant for Fatima's arrest, has continued posting on Stories. The Miss Universe Organization has issued statements supporting Fatima, emphasizing that women should not remain silent to protect their position.

Exhibition Explores Forgotten Memories Through Inflatable Sculpture Art
1h ago Khaosod

Balloon Art Company and the Visual Communication Design Department of Pathom Thani College opened an exhibition of three-dimensional inflatable sculptures titled "The Forgotten Things," inviting the public to reflect on memories, values, and important moments that may be overlooked in today's fast-paced world. The exhibition features contemporary inflatable art including the work "TimeLost" by Worasorawong, an Imagineering Artist, and creative works by young artists at Bangkok's Arts and Culture Centre.

An Art Talk Session titled "Remembering the Forgotten" featured three creators: Worasorawong Samatthaphan (Imagineering Artist and judge), Hiromi Kano (founder of KIGURUMI.BIZ and mascot expert from Japan), and Phuriphop Khotchitprompirom (Art Director at Central Pattana). The event also announced awards and displayed works by six youth teams selected from the Art for Art 2026 project.

Now in its fourth year, the exhibition provides a platform for young artists and students to transform their imagination from prototype models into large-scale inflatable sculptures displayed nationwide. Worasorawong explained that the Art for Art 2026 project opens a world of Imagineering that connects art, engineering, and human experience. He emphasized that judging and developing student work involves teaching them about the nature of inflatable art—air pressure, surface tension, seams, and structure—allowing them to scale up their ideas from small models to large installations at the art center, thereby breaking creative limitations.

Worasorawong's personal work, "TimeLost," explores what meaningful moments we may be leaving behind as we chase success and goals. The sculpture depicts figures looking upward toward achievement, while the base is filled with overlooked life elements—toys, childhood, love, trophies, and clocks representing overlapping time. The artist conveyed a message through this sculpture: do not let the pursuit of success cause you to overlook what truly matters—family, relationships, and your own identity. "TimeLost" is not about lost time, but about time we once had that we simply forgot to value.

The exhibition "The Forgotten Things" is open free to the public through August 30, 2026, at Bangkok's Arts and Culture Centre.

This operation followed a fatal incident on July 25 when 17-year-old Bas, a vocational student and son of an army officer, was shot and killed by 19-year-old Jino, a rival, near a sewage treatment facility. The killing stemmed from social media threats and provocations. Police implemented preventive measures after multiple posts showing both sides vowing revenge.

The Prime Minister then traveled to Nan Provincial Hall to chair a meeting on the flood response and recovery operations.

Anutin expressed his deepest condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the flooding disaster. He instructed all relevant agencies to provide comprehensive assistance to victims and the bereaved families. He praised Deputy Prime Minister Yos Chanan for his swift response and leadership in managing the crisis while Anutin was abroad, maintaining continuous coordination throughout.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged the support of Defense Minister Anudom Boonthammajaroen, Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Suryia Juengrungrueng, and Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary Jaichatchai Thaiserath. Ministry Holds Professor Appointment Pending Academic Ethics Review

The Ministry of Higher Education has halted a professor appointment proposal pending an ethics investigation into a Chiang Mai University staff member's research practices and academic credentials.

Ministry Holds Professor Appointment Pending Academic Ethics Review
2h ago Khaosod

On August 23, Prof. Dr. Suphachai Pathumnaakul, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, clarified that the ministry has not yet submitted a proposal for royal endorsement to appoint a Chiang Mai University staff member to the rank of professor. This is because the ministry is still investigating facts and allegations related to complaints, particularly regarding research ethics and how the academic work was obtained. Clear and complete data is required before proceeding to the next stage.

The Permanent Secretary stated that in May, the ministry's office had written to Chiang Mai University requesting additional information and evidence for fact-checking in the complaint case. However, as of now, the ministry's office has not yet received the additional information and documents from Chiang Mai University.

Fact-checking, determining whether research ethics violations occurred, and any disciplinary action remain the responsibility of Chiang Mai University as the employing institution. The ministry will act only within its legal authority and mandate.

Prof. Dr. Suphachai added that the ministry places high importance on research ethics as it is fundamental to building knowledge and academic work. If research and academic outputs lack accuracy or do not follow ethical principles, it undermines the credibility of Thailand's higher education, science, research and innovation system.

He confirmed that the ministry will handle the matter carefully, fairly, and in accordance with academic standards and law. The ministry will not submit a proposal for royal endorsement until there is clear and sufficient verification data.

Military Command Denies Helicopter Shooting Claims

A military commander denied allegations that someone was shot from a helicopter, stating patrols were conducted but no weapons were fired, while authorities seized over 2 million cigarette packs and millions of baht in a smuggling operation

Military Command Denies Helicopter Shooting Claims
2h ago Khaosod

On August 23, Region 4 Military Commander Lieutenant General Nrotip Poyaynok addressed allegations that someone had been shot from a helicopter, firmly denying the claims. He confirmed that helicopters and drones were indeed used for patrols along various routes during the period in question, but insisted there was no use of weapons or gunfire from helicopters whatsoever. The commander emphasized that if automatic weapons had actually been deployed from a helicopter, the vehicles or targets mentioned would have been completely destroyed, therefore stating that the reported events do not match the facts.

Poyaynok characterized the incidents as attempts to discredit state officials' work rather than direct threats to civilian or official lives. He noted that from late July through mid-August, officials conducted continuous encirclement, search, and suppression operations against insurgent groups across the three southern border provinces, deploying available forces across all areas.

The military also reported progress under the 90-Day Anti-Narcotics Campaign, which has resulted in large quantities of drug seizures and multiple arrests. Most recently in mid-August, officials seized an illegal cigarette smuggling operation in Yarang District, confiscating over 2 million cigarette packs and approximately 18 million baht in cash. The commander stated that this smuggling network is linked to drug trafficking organizations, with estimated illegal trade values reaching hundreds of millions of baht monthly, which may motivate affected groups to retaliate against officials.

"These are funding sources for the insurgency and extortion activities, so it is possible that those losing profits may try to create situations to retaliate against state officials," Poyaynok said. He reaffirmed that officials will not tolerate illegal activities, particularly illegal border trade and drug trafficking, and will continue strict enforcement without leniency.

Region 4 Internal Security Command said it will thoroughly investigate facts in all cases, ensure fairness to all parties, and continue security operations alongside law enforcement.

Rising Star Yuki Opens Up About Depression and Drama
2h ago Khaosod

Yuki Haitonkham, the new leading actress of Channel 7HD and a Thai-Japanese half-breed mor lam singer, opened her heart completely on the talk show "Lunchtime Entertainment Talk" to discuss her journey through various controversies from childhood to becoming a leading artist. She recounted the drama surrounding her early career as a mor lam lead vocalist starting at age 13, the rumors of being "bought" when she joined Haitonkham record label at 16, and the harsh criticism she faced when leaving her previous label.

Yuki explained that she has been performing since age 11-12 but became a full-time mor lam lead vocalist at just 13 years old, facing immense pressure and criticism for being too young. She said, "To become Yuki Haitonkham today, I've been through a lot of difficult things. Every job was tiring with a lot of pressure. Since I started working as a child, there was so much drama. Every small move I made created drama, so calling me 'a girl of a hundred dramas' isn't an exaggeration."

When she left her original label at 16, she received a call from Prakiatchai Haitonkham, the owner of Haitonkham record label, who invited her to perform for one hour for 30,000 baht—more than she had previously earned. Inspired by her idol Lamyai Haitonkham who was already with the label, she accepted. However, her move was not without controversy, with rumors spreading that she had been "bought" and replaced Lamyai. She also faced criticism about her singing voice, with some saying she should return to school instead of pursuing music. Despite all the obstacles, Yuki has proven her abilities and earned the admiration of Channel 7HD fans through her talent, beauty, and gratitude.
