On September 11, 2025, officers from the Special Cases Bureau arrested six suspects in a mobile phone installment fraud and stolen goods trafficking scheme. Four were charged with theft, and two phone shop owners were charged with receiving stolen property.
The four accused installment dealers are Ladda, 57, from Nakhon Pathom; Naddaphen, 34, from Chachoengsao; Paibuol, 58, from Nakhon Si Thammarat; and Oranung, 38, from Nakhon Si Thammarat. The two accused buyers are Chat, 40, and Chollathicha, 36, owners of a mobile phone shop.
The case began when KBJ Capital Company, which provides Samsung Finance+ installment loans, received complaints from numerous victims. Investigators found that the network used online platforms to exploit financially struggling people, recruiting them as agents to sign installment contracts for phones through dealers nationwide in exchange for 300–600 baht per device. The group then claimed they would arrange for others to continue payments, but instead sold the phones in the black market without completing installments, leaving the recruited agents legally liable on both civil and criminal charges.
After a company complaint and investigation, undercover officers purchased a phone from a shop in Pathum Thani and confirmed it was KBJ Capital property illegally diverted. The four installment dealers were referred to Huay Kwang Police Station, while Chat and Chollathicha were indicted at Lad Lumkaew Police Station.
Police and the company are continuing to investigate accomplices and supporters for additional charges. Officials warn the public against participating in such schemes, as they carry both civil and criminal liability and directly harm loan signatories.
