Warichaphum Police Return 26 Drug Users to Community Through Sustainable Program
On August 13, 2026, at Jampatong Community Hall in Luang Lad Subdistrict, Warichaphum District, Sakon Nakhon Province, Deputy Commander Anurath Chimtim of Region 4 Police, together with Investigators Somkhane Triyasut and Chetsada Kusumalay, traveled to assess the Sustainable Subdistrict Project at Warichaphum Police Station under Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police. They were joined by Deputy Commander Chiraroj Rojphanupatch of Sakon Nakhon Provincial Police, Superintendent Kitti Kaewtin of Warichaphum Station, District Administrator Direk Chanmala, and Subdistrict Mayor Prakrong Wichsathit, along with community action teams. Approximately 300 people participated in the assessment.
According to Superintendent Kitti, the Sustainable Subdistrict Project is a National Police initiative focused on community-led drug problem prevention. All police stations nationwide implement the program across two communities or villages each, conducting comprehensive population screening to identify drug users for treatment using the CBTx (Community-Based Treatment) method. The approach integrates cooperation among local government, public health, community leaders, temple committees, and schools to address the community's drug problem sustainably.
The assessment concluded successfully, with 26 drug users and suspects successfully returned to their communities, meeting the police's established targets. Follow-up evaluations will continue after the project concludes to ensure genuine community participation in mutual care and support.
