Poll Gives PM Anutin Low Scores on Flood, Economy
A nationwide Dusit Poll gave Prime Minister Anutin and the government low scores for their handling of the 2026 floods, with the military rated highest. Respondents blamed delayed warnings and slow relief efforts for the poor performance. A separate Isan Poll found northeastern households rating their economy at just 4.8 out of 10, citing high prices and a stagnant economy as top concerns.
The Dusit Poll also asked what hindered effective flood response: 74.80% cited delayed warnings, and 73.05% said authorities must rescue and relieve victims quickly and comprehensively. Flood mitigation, relief, recovery and prevention of future risk areas remain major tasks requiring greater efficiency, especially for those in the Bhumjaithai Party.
Meanwhile, the Isan Poll from Khon Kaen University’s Faculty of Economics surveyed 1,082 adults aged 18 and over across 20 northeastern provinces. It found household economic conditions in Q3 2026 rated only 4.78 out of 10, with a forecast of 4.80 for Q4. Respondents said the most urgent issue for the government is high prices and cost of living, followed by a stagnant economy, weak purchasing power and falling sales. Other concerns included expensive fertilizers, high farming costs, low wages, insufficient income, high energy prices, falling agricultural product prices, household debt, informal loans, and impacts of natural disasters. The government’s economic performance in Q3 averaged 4.85 out of 10, with 5.3% giving it a zero rating. The Isan Poll summed up that the public views economic performance as merely adequate to poor.
