Porsche Cayenne Worth 6 Million Baht Rolls Into Canal
A 6-million-baht Porsche Cayenne rolled backward into a 5-meter-deep canal in Bang Phli after the owner failed to engage the parking brake, requiring a two-hour crane recovery operation that briefly closed a traffic lane.
On September 5, 2569, security camera footage captured the moment when a car parts shop owner parked a white Porsche Cayenne hybrid in front of the shop, which sits on a sloped driveway. Seconds after parking and exiting the vehicle, the car rolled backward across the road and plunged into the Suvarnabhumi water canal, which is nearly 5 meters deep.
The owner contacted Bang Phli traffic police and Bang Phli rescue services to recover the vehicle from the canal. Officials coordinated with large cranes to successfully retrieve the car after more than two hours, during which one traffic lane was temporarily closed, causing traffic congestion for several kilometers.
The owner's son explained that his mother had not turned off the engine or engaged Park gear and had not applied the parking brake. Within moments, the vehicle rolled across the road. Fortunately, oncoming traffic saw the car and stopped in time, preventing a collision with other vehicles. The son apologized to other road users and offered a cautionary message: drivers should thoroughly check their vehicle's safety features before and after parking to prevent such incidents. The car is a new import purchased less than two years ago, valued at over 6 million baht, with an electric system, and has voluntary insurance coverage.
