Thailand Eyes Global Stage for Princess's Cup Equestrian Event
Thailand is expanding the 2026 Princess's Cup equestrian event into an international competition featuring enhanced horse sports, lifestyle activities, and tourism experiences to boost the country's sports tourism profile and equestrian rep
Tourism and Sports Minister Surasak Panchcharoenkul chaired the planning meeting for Princess's Cup Thailand 2026 on August 7, 2025, with attendance from the Royal Horse Guard commander, ministry advisors, and relevant agency representatives. The meeting discussed strategies to elevate the 2026 event while commemorating the original competition from 2001, which was initiated under the royal patronage of Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana. Organizers aim to expand the event format with enhanced equestrian competitions, personnel development initiatives, and international athlete participation to bring Thai equestrian sports to global standards.
The event will also feature lifestyle and tourism-linked activities including dog-related programs, vendor and food zones, carnival activities, and exhibitions showcasing horses and travel experiences to attract both Thai and international visitors. The ministry discussed operational plans, budgets, revenue strategies, and inter-agency coordination structures to ensure efficient and cost-effective event management with maximum benefit.
The Tourism and Sports Ministry views Princess's Cup Thailand as a key platform for developing Thai equestrian sports while promoting sport tourism. The international-level competition is designed to attract athletes, fans, and tourists to Thailand, create economic opportunities, distribute revenue across related sectors, and position Thailand as a leading international sports and tourism destination.
