Schools in Nonthaburi Tighten Security After Shooting
Nonthaburi schools implemented heightened security measures including metal detectors and bag inspections when students returned Monday following a deadly shooting at a local school last week.
After a deadly shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi on August 7 that resulted in multiple casualties, schools throughout the province have heightened security as students returned for the first day of classes on Monday, August 10. Teachers stationed at school gates are conducting rigorous bag inspections of both students and parents entering campus to prevent weapons from being brought onto school grounds.
At Phra Mae Sakol School in Bang Bua Thong district, security staff deployed metal detection scanners to screen students entering the building. At Sri Bun Yanon School in Mueang district, teachers lined up to inspect each student's bag individually to prevent copycat incidents. Wat Masong School in Sai Noi district established a checkpoint at the school entrance using metal detector equipment to thoroughly check student bags, and also inspected motorcycles by requiring students to open seat compartments. At Pakpret School in Pakpret district, teachers conducted detailed bag searches while police from Pakpret Station provided security oversight on campus.
