Rescue Volunteer Slapped by Fake Police Officer in Udon Thani
A rescue volunteer was slapped in the face by a man posing as a police officer while assisting an injured person in Udon Thani. The incident was captured on video, and the volunteer has filed a police complaint seeking legal action, not compensation.
Around 00:30 after receiving an accident report at the Sampraphaw intersection, a rescue team found an unconscious injured person and began providing aid. A white sedan followed them, then stopped beside the rescue vehicle. The driver, wearing a sports shirt numbered 35 with "udon police" on the back, appeared intoxicated, approached the volunteers, asked what was happening, and demanded they call nearby police. When a volunteer asked if he had been drinking, the man became angry, slapped the volunteer's face, and warned, "Don't talk like that, don't challenge me." A woman in the car tried to intervene and apologized, but the man insisted on calling police. The volunteers, identified as Boss and Boat, both 22 years old, reported the incident to Mueang Udon Thani police station, filed a complaint, underwent a medical check, and provided video evidence as proof. The man later claimed to be a border police officer. The volunteers condemned the violence, stating that using force against rescuers helping others is unacceptable, especially if the perpetrator is a state official, and said they seek no compensation, only accountability.
