San Trai Hospital Clears Backlog of Unprescribed Medicines
San Trai Hospital in Chiang Mai has resolved a medicine shortage caused by supplier debts, allowing patients to finally collect full prescriptions through a dedicated collection point operating through September 25.
San Trai Hospital in Chiang Mai has resolved a critical medicine shortage that left some patients unable to collect their full prescribed medications. The hospital had faced a drug supply crisis due to outstanding debts to pharmaceutical suppliers, forcing patients to make multiple return trips to collect additional doses and incurring time and expense burdens. As of today, the situation has improved significantly after the hospital cleared its outstanding debts and arranged to borrow medicines from other hospitals. Multiple medications have begun restocking, allowing the hospital to dispense outstanding prescriptions for the first time. The hospital has opened a dedicated collection point near the old emergency room, separate from regular dispensing, to reduce congestion and waiting times, with pharmacists and staff on hand to assist. Over 300 patients and relatives queued during the morning to collect their medicines, presenting only their prescription envelopes and ID cards. The dedicated collection point will operate from September 15–25. Patients who registered for postal delivery will continue to receive their medicines by mail as usual. San Trai Hospital states that the situation is resolving progressively and will expedite all measures to minimize patient impact, thanking the public for their patience and understanding throughout the crisis.
