The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) and the National Sports Development Fund (NSDF) are advancing Thai sports into a new era with the launch of a "Sports Science High Performance" training program designed to systematically develop athletes using advanced sports science knowledge combined with genetic data analysis and personalized data. The opening ceremony was presided over by Surasak Gedchantuk, Deputy Director-General of SAT's Sports Promotion Division, at The Grand Fourwings Convention hotel in Bangkok, attended by athletes, coaches, and sports personnel.
A key highlight of the program is the collection of saliva samples from athletes for detailed genetic analysis covering multiple dimensions including physical health and performance, nutrition and recovery, injury risk reduction, and behavior and sleep patterns. The analysis results will be compiled into personalized reports accessible through an online system, allowing athletes, coaches, and sports associations to access the data and apply it to long-term training plans with precision.
The workshop featured expert speakers addressing critical topics: Associate Professor Thaworn Komutdsri on physical fitness development, Dr. Orawun Poochaiyavattanont on sports nutrition, Dr. Anon Kitnitcheeaw on genetic science testing for athletes, and Associate Professor Dr. Aphanuch Siripaet on sports psychology. This training marks a significant milestone in transforming Thai sports from a generic one-size-fits-all training approach to individualized athlete development based on genetic potential, improving training efficiency, reducing injury risk, and establishing a solid foundation for Thai athletes to achieve sustainable success at the international level.
