Senate Panel Probes 530 Million Baht Flood Recovery Spending
The Senate Budget Committee is investigating 530 million baht in flood recovery spending by Songkhla Provincial Administration after complaints alleged misconduct in project implementation and budget allocation.
Songkhla — The Senate Budget Committee, chaired by Supachok Salakij, has launched a detailed investigation into 530 million baht in spending by Songkhla Provincial Administration on flood recovery in Hat Yai district, following public complaints alleging misconduct on five counts and affirming commitment to protecting public and national interests.
On September 16, the committee and officials from relevant agencies visited the Koh Tae landfill site in Songkhla Municipality to monitor progress on the allocation of 530 million baht used for area rehabilitation following floods in Hat Yai.
The inspection was triggered by community representatives Chalimsai Kru-amphot and Kriangkrai Komkham, who raised concerns about irregularities in project implementation suggestive of corruption and poor budget allocation. They filed five formal complaints.
Supachok revealed that the committee has received all five complaints and is conducting an in-depth fact-check covering documentation, procurement procedures, and field implementation to ensure clarity, transparency, and accountability. He affirmed the committee would proceed transparently to protect public interest and safeguard national budget resources.
