Gang of Youths Arrested for Coin Box Thefts in Chachoengsao
Two teenagers arrested in Chachoengsao confessed to vending machine thefts and implicated a third suspect who allegedly used a firearm to force them into robberies across multiple locations.
On September 16, Chachoengsao Provincial Police officers led by Deputy Commander Vuthipong Somjai and other senior officers conducted an investigation into a gang suspected of vending machine thefts. Two male teenagers aged 16 and 17 were summoned for questioning and fact-checking. Officers recovered key evidence including police-related ID card holders, handcuffs, and CCTV footage showing three suspects conducting robberies across various locations.
Both youths acknowledged their identities in the CCTV footage and confessed to the theft crimes. During interrogation, they implicated a youth known as "Tong," approximately 16 years old, who reportedly has ties to local police in Bang Lamung district. The suspects alleged that Tong brandished a firearm to coerce them into committing the robberies and would take the stolen money. They claimed that Tong threatened to shoot them if they refused and constantly carried a gun, making them fear for their safety and their families' wellbeing.
Both youths accepted responsibility for their actions and agreed to proceed through the legal system. They requested police urgently pursue Tong and take legal action swiftly, citing safety concerns. Police are continuing to gather evidence including CCTV footage, recovered items, and witness statements to expand their investigation and pursue all individuals involved. Officers are also investigating related vending machine thefts in Chachoengsao and Rayong provinces that may be linked to the gang.
