Three Arrested for Stealing ATMs on Motorcycles
Three suspects arrested in Ban Haed for stealing and destroying two ATMs from motorcycles in early September, making off with approximately 13,000 baht across two incidents in Khon Kaen province.
Ban Haed Police have arrested three suspects in connection with the theft and destruction of two cash-dispensing machines in Nons Sambourn village, Muban 9 and Muban 10. On September 10, 2025, Commander Sarayut Kankam reported that officers Chaleaw Mourey and Pira Sriwiset had apprehended a 27-year-old suspect named Pee, a 19-year-old named Nu, and a 16-year-old named Mai, who had been detained earlier.
Investigators received reports of two ATM thefts on September 5–7. Security camera footage showed suspects on a Honda Wave motorcycle transporting objects resembling cash machines. On September 5 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Mai and Nu were observed loading a machine from outside a former village headman's house, transporting it to Nong Kham public pond, destroying it, and dividing approximately 12,000 baht before fleeing.
The second incident occurred on September 7 at approximately 4:00 a.m., when Pee and Mai targeted another ATM near a community hall in Muban 9, Nons Sambourn, Ban Haed district, Khon Kaen province. They loaded it onto the same Honda Wave, abandoned it in scrubland near the railway, destroyed it, and removed approximately 1,000 baht, which they used to purchase crystal methamphetamine before escaping. Mai was arrested on September 7, and expanded investigations led to the apprehension of Pee and Nu on September 9. Police recovered both ATMs and the Honda Wave motorcycle registered in Khon Kaen. The suspects have been charged with conspiracy to steal property at night using a vehicle and will be further prosecuted.
