Soldier Loses Leg After Stepping On Landmine In Ubon Ratchathani

On August 17, 2026, Army Spokesman Pol. Lt. Col. Winthai Suwanree announced that military personnel were injured while conducting mine-clearance operations with the National Landmine Removal Center (TMAC) at Sai Yang Pass in Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani. The spokesman explained that the area had previously been occupied by Cambodian forces, which Thai military later expelled. Following the incident, the zone was secured and cordoned off as a dangerous area to allow TMAC teams to safely conduct explosive removal operations.
The soldier sustained injuries to his right ankle and right hand, along with other wounds to his body. He remained conscious and in stable condition during transport to Saraburi Camp Hospital. The Army expressed regret over the incident and instructed commanders to provide full medical care and support to the injured personnel.
