Soldier on Motorbike Hits Police, Flees Bangkok Chase
A Bangkok soldier was arrested after hitting a traffic police officer's motorcycle during a high-speed chase through the city on September 7, leaving behind evidence that led to his identification and capture.
A soldier stationed in Bangkok has been arrested after a dramatic nighttime chase through Bangkok's Bang Sue district on September 7. The incident began when traffic police officer Phanomrung Chiamatuey, known online as "Aey Bank Saw," spotted a motorcycle with a folded license plate near Kamphaengphet intersection. When officers attempted to stop the rider for inspection, he accelerated and fled.
During the high-speed pursuit along Chatuchak Park and Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, the suspect swerved aggressively to evade the pursuing officer. Near Vibhavadi Road, the motorcycle lost control, swiped a footpath, and struck the officer's motorcycle, causing him to fall. The rider then escaped the scene, but left behind a canvas sneaker. The police motorcycle sustained damage, though the officer was fortunately unhurt.
Police traced the vehicle using its visible license plate and helmet camera footage that clearly captured the rider's face and motorcycle details. Officers later identified the suspect as a military officer based in Bangkok and made an arrest through Tao Poon Police Station. The injured officer, Police Sub-Lieutenant Phanomrung Chiamatuey, filed a formal complaint and underwent medical examination at Police Hospital to support additional charges against the suspect.
