On September 8, police arrested 67-year-old Han, a South Korean national and leader of the Korea Black Invest fraud syndicate, at a luxury residence in Hin Lek Fai subdistrict, Hua Hin district, Prachuap Khiri Khan province. Han was wanted under arrest warrant 5029/2567 for conspiracy to defraud.
The investigation revealed that starting around 2563, Han and his associates lured South Korean investors to invest in real estate, including land and condominiums in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan provinces. In one case, a victim transferred 89 million baht to an account controlled by Nichita, age 57, Han's wife and authorized director of a company. Han then convinced the victim to invest an additional 89 million baht by claiming the victim would hold company shares and have decision-making power. However, the victim later discovered the company had not used the funds for property purchases as promised and filed a complaint.
Police have identified 4 related cases in Thailand involving 147 million baht in damages. Additionally, authorities found evidence of 14 similar cases with total losses of approximately 1,047 million baht. South Korean authorities reported the suspect faces approximately 14 additional charges in South Korea.
The arrest was challenging because Han had no recorded entry into Thailand. He claimed to have entered via Malaysia 30 years ago and illegally crossed Thailand's natural border. Living in Thailand for years with a Thai wife and numerous acquaintances, Han deliberately avoided using applications, social media, or financial transactions and kept no documents in his name. After extensive investigation, police identified his location and obtained a warrant from Hua Hin Provincial Court before conducting the raid. Han confessed to all charges.
Former South Korean Ambassador Noh Kwang-il stated that Han was a deported individual with a criminal history.
