Developer Sansiri Turns 50,000 Bottle Caps Into Eco-Friendly Playground
Sansiri converted 50,000 discarded plastic bottle caps into Thailand's first eco-friendly playground through its Waste to WORTH campaign, demonstrating circular economy principles in sustainable real estate development.
Sansiri, Thailand's leading real estate developer, has announced a major milestone in its 'Waste to WORTH' campaign, converting discarded plastic bottle caps from residents into the country's first eco-friendly playground. The project brought together four specialized partners: Plus Property to organize community recycling collection; WasteBuy Delivery to manage logistics and transparency; GC YOUTurn to process the caps into recycled plastic pellets suitable for rotomolding; and PunPun Playground, which worked with Sansiri's design team to create durable, safe, and visually appealing play equipment. Over the campaign period, the initiative collected 50,000 bottle caps weighing 206 kilograms, reducing plastic waste by over 61 kilograms and preventing 117 kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. The recycled playgrounds have now been installed and are in use at three pilot projects: Siri Place, Anasiri, and Mabel in the Ratchaphruek–Tad Mai zone. Sansiri and its partners view the Waste to WORTH initiative as proof that circular economy principles can deliver tangible benefits to society. By encouraging residents to separate recyclables and returning materials to the community as functional, joyful spaces for children, the company aims to set a new standard for sustainable real estate development in Thailand and advance the industry toward genuine Net Zero 2050 goals.
