Medical Student Heart Competition Launches as Edutainment Series

Siriraj Hospital and Workpoint Entertainment launched a new medical education programme titled "The Heart Expert by Siriraj," bringing together 16 medical students from institutions across Thailand to compete in a heart health knowledge competition presented as entertainment.

The Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University announced the programme on Saturday, 5 September 2025, at Workpoint Studio. The initiative combines important and relatable cardiac information through engaging, intensive, and knowledge-filled competitions. Medical students from 16 institutions nationwide across all regions will compete to showcase their expertise while inviting all Thai people to become more "heart-aware."

Heart disease is currently considered a silent threat affecting people of all ages, with many unaware of their risk. Some know they have abnormalities but have not sought proper medical examination or treatment. Importantly, heart disease is not limited to the elderly—it can occur from infancy through childhood and into young adulthood. Managing heart disease also requires collaboration among doctors from multiple specialties, which inspired this project to share accessible and useful cardiac knowledge with Thais of all ages.

"The Heart Expert by Siriraj" is organised by the Princess Mother Cardiac Centre at the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, in partnership with Workpoint Entertainment. It builds on the success of "The Bone Expert," combining expertise from doctors across various disciplines with a competitive format to provide viewers with substance, entertainment, and excitement while raising awareness of heart health.

The event was graced by Professor Abhichart Uthammongkol, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital at Mahidol University, along with Associate Professors Pranya Sakiylakorn and Natthawut Wongpraparat, Assistant Professor Theeraphong Tocharoenchoke and Associate Professor Paveena Chungsomprasong from Siriraj, plus Panya Nirantkul, Chairman of Workpoint Entertainment, and Dr Wichani Srisawat, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Broadcasting.

After rigorous online qualifying rounds, medical students from 16 institutions nationwide will compete on crucial cardiac topics including cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, and paediatric heart disease through an entertaining, intense, and suspenseful edutainment format each week.
