The cabinet has approved the reassignment of Nattapol Rangsitpol, the current Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, to a new position as a civil service advisor to the Prime Minister. At 8:41 a.m. on September 8, 2026, at Parliament, Industry Minister Warawut Silpabucha said the appointment of a new permanent secretary has not yet been finalized and is awaiting cabinet approval. When asked where the reassignment will take effect, Warawut said the cabinet decision needs to be made first, with details to follow. Asked whether the current permanent secretary will remain with the ministry or transfer to the Government House, Warawut confirmed the transfer will be to the Government House. For the appointment of the new permanent secretary, Warawut said the process requires a royal warrant to be issued and published in the Government Gazette before the ministry can proceed with the official appointment. When asked if he consulted with the Prime Minister at the Government House on September 7, Warawut confirmed he did so and the Prime Minister has acknowledged the matter. Latest reports indicate the cabinet has approved Warawut's proposal to remove Nattapol from his position as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and appoint him as an advisor to the Prime Minister for civil service matters at the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister.
