The Sri Racha Southern Club in Chachoengsao announced on September 6 plans for a grand 2025 Tenth Lunar Month merit festival running from September 27 to October 4 at Juk Ka-Choe Temple in Sri Racha District. Senior Sub-district Officer Jintana Chiracheewin joined club chairman Semsak Ramthim, event director Chalongs Rattana, and other officials to unveil the festival program.
The festival aims to unite residents and visitors in merit-making traditions honoring ancestors during the Buddhist season when the gates of the underworld are believed to open on the new moon through the full moon of the tenth lunar month. Activities include religious ceremonies, competitions and processions of symbolic food offerings called "mrab," featuring five types of sweetmeats representing clothing, transportation, wealth, entertainment, and provisions for the deceased.
The event will showcase Southern Thai culture through a spirit-possession ritual, traditional "ram manohra" dance performances, and local Southern cuisine including yellow curry, grilled snacks, fish bile curry, and turmeric chicken. The club will distribute 85 education scholarships worth a combined 115,000 baht to support disadvantaged youth at local schools and students at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan. The public and tourists are invited to participate in preserving this valued cultural tradition from September 27 to October 4 at Juk Ka-Choe Temple.
