Thailand Orders Flag Display Campaign for September
Thailand's Interior Ministry has ordered all provincial and local governments to display the Thai flag throughout September and participate in flag salute ceremonies on September 28 to promote national unity and honor the late King Bhumibol
The Ministry of Interior has instructed all 76 provincial governors, 878 district officers, and local administrative organizations nationwide to participate in Thai National Flag Day activities on September 28 and display the Thai flag at government offices to promote national unity and pride.
According to Arssith Sampantharattana, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, the initiative stems from a directive by the Prime Minister's Office to strengthen national pride and commemorate the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who established the Thai tricolor flag in 1917. The flag, adopted under the Flag Act of 1917, features three equal horizontal stripes: red representing the nation and blood of its people, white representing religion, and blue representing the monarchy.
The Ministry has ordered all 76 provinces, 878 districts, and 7,842 local organizations to display the Thai national flag at government buildings and invited all government agencies, state enterprises, businesses, associations, foundations, and the public to display flags at their offices and homes while ensuring flags remain in good condition throughout September 2025.
On September 28, provincial governors, district officers, and local administrators will lead government officials and staff in a flag salute ceremony at provincial halls, district offices, and local government offices at 8:00 a.m., wearing khaki uniforms. The public is welcome to attend in formal dress or traditional attire.
