USS Abraham Lincoln Commander Praises Thailand's Warm Welcome
The USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier and its strike group departed Thailand on September 6 after a port visit to Pattaya, where nearly 5,000 sailors experienced Thai culture and hospitality, strengthening U.S.-Thailand ties.
The USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and flagship of the U.S. Navy's Carrier Strike Group 3, departed Thailand as scheduled on September 6 after a port visit to Sri Racha and Pattaya. The visit demonstrated the importance of the U.S. alliance with Thailand and America's long-term commitment to the region, as the strike group continues operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet's area of responsibility.
Admiral Dan Keelan, commander of the USS Abraham Lincoln, thanked the Thai people for their friendship, noting that the port visit provided the crew with well-deserved rest and created memorable experiences. He praised Thailand's valuable culture and history combined with warm hospitality, which were prominently reflected throughout the visit.
During their time in Pattaya, nearly 5,000 sailors and marines experienced Thai sights and atmosphere, strengthening mutual understanding and personal relationships between the crews and local Thai people. The U.S. Navy's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation program coordinated with local Thai businesses to arrange tours and activities that allowed personnel to make the most of the port call.
The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group continues routine operations in the 7th Fleet's operating area, with units conducting sustained patrols to deter aggression, strengthen alliances and partnerships, and promote peace through strength.
