Krabi Honors Young Rock Star Nenew With Guitar-Carrying Statue

Krabi's iconic Prehistoric Human statue at the central red-light intersection has regained color and vitality following a creative makeover featuring a guitar, headband, and Thai flag draping. The symbolic decoration sends encouragement and cheers to Nenew Royal, a 16-year-old rock singer and guitarist from Phuket who earned a Golden Buzzer and advanced to the finals of America's Got Talent 2026 after delivering a powerful performance of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun." The achievement moved audiences worldwide and inspired Krabi residents to unite behind their young ambassador.

Crabi residents rallied with a creative concept that merges the city's distinctive Prehistoric Human landmark with the image of a musician, creating the "Guitar-Carrying Prehistoric Human" — a visual that has captured attention online and become another symbol of Krabi's cheers reaching Thai youth on the global stage. Keeratisak Phukaoluan, chairman of Krabi's Education Council and the idea's originator, revealed that city residents are ready to show their full support for Nenew Royal at the prehistoric human statue intersection, sending encouragement for her success in the competition.

Behind this show of support lies three days of continuous work coordinated at the Sri Phong-Kee Phukaoluan Foundation, with cooperation from numerous community partners including furniture craftsman Prom Thinnongchik, artisans Saneshpong Anhorn and Jiraphot Chugliang, the Krabi Municipality cable car team, Pompetchr Sukondkhanit (Gojuk), and Assistant Mayor Adisak Hiranyakhanisht, among many others. Winai Ratchsaeng, a 64-year-old general counter staff member, praised the initiative as a good idea that adds color while riding the wave of support for Nenew Royal. He noted that Thais should cheer for their own, and that Nenew has become an idol for young girls, including his own grandchild.
