Stray Dogs Nap on Car Roofs, Return After Being Chased Away

A pack of stray dogs has made a habit of lounging on car roofs at a public parking area in front of Lom Sak District Office in Phetchabun Province, returning to their favorite spots even after being chased away. On September 16, 2024, a Facebook user posted photos and video clips from the Thai Lom Walking Street in Lom Sak District showing multiple dogs resting on parked vehicles—both white and black sedans—with muddy paw prints smeared across windshields and roof surfaces.

Reporters on the ground confirmed the incident occurred at the public parking lot in front of the district office, locally known as "Amphoe Front." Chinakorn, owner of a restaurant near the parking area, revealed that approximately 5–6 stray dogs permanently inhabit the location and are spotted there regularly. On some days, the dogs climb onto car roofs to rest; on others, they shelter underneath vehicles. The video footage shows genuine behavior that occurs repeatedly, with as many as 3–4 dogs sometimes climbing onto cars simultaneously.

Chinakorn noted that residents have repeatedly attempted to chase the dogs away, but the animals consistently return and resume their rooftop naps within a short time. Whether the dogs cause physical damage to vehicles remains unconfirmed pending vehicle-by-vehicle inspection. Parked-car owners are advised to exercise extra caution by thoroughly inspecting their vehicles before driving off—checking for dogs that may be hidden underneath and looking for muddy paw prints or scratch marks left by the animals.
