At 11:30 a.m. on September 16, Deputy Speaker Mallika Jirapanthawanich conducted an inspection of the Parliament cafeteria on the B2 level following a recent ceiling collapse. She confirmed that repairs have been completed, though she acknowledged the work is not yet 100 percent finished. When asked whether water damage caused the collapse, Jirapanthawanich said such details would need to be verified by engineers or the Department of Public Works, but emphasized that repairs are underway and further solutions are being explored.
She expressed ongoing concern about the facility's overall condition given the incident, but praised staff for their quick response when the ceiling fell. Regarding public confidence in the cafeteria, she remarked simply that people will have to use it regardless.
Before returning to the parliamentary chamber, Jirapanthawanich was informed by cafeteria users of an odor resembling garbage entering the dining area. She immediately instructed facility managers to resolve the sanitation problem urgently.
