Police Believe Woman Found Dead in Rental Room Was Murdered

Police investigating the death of a 24-year-old woman found dead in a rental room in Udon Thani's Muang district believe she was murdered, not a suicide. The woman, identified as Miss Pim from Nong Khai who worked at a convenience store in Udon Thani, was discovered lying face-down and naked in the room on the evening of September 15. A wire was found around her neck. Muang Udon Thani Police Chief Pattanawong Chanphon and forensic teams returned to the scene to collect additional evidence and DNA samples for comparison with samples taken from the victim's body and belongings.

CCTV footage from the front of the dormitory has not revealed any suspicious outsiders entering or leaving during the relevant timeframe, though police have not ruled out any possibilities and continue examining additional camera footage. Police believe the victim would not have committed suicide, citing multiple suspicious elements including the wire, her naked state, and the likelihood she was heading to the bathroom when someone entered. Preliminary investigation found her wallet and mobile phone still present, suggesting the motive was not robbery. Police are investigating all angles including personal conflicts and potential sexual assault, pending forensic and pathological examination results.

Police have already questioned approximately 10 people including coworkers, family members, and the victim's parents who arrived in Udon Thani, as well as neighbors near the scene. A preliminary autopsy is underway to determine the cause and manner of death, with results expected soon. Police plan to return to the scene at 9:30 a.m. with forensic officers and investigators to collect additional evidence, and will also question the tenant in the adjacent room who is currently traveling back from Bangkok. The investigating officer confirmed all evidence lines—CCTV footage, forensic results, and DNA analysis—are being pursued urgently.
