Teen Drowns After Motorbike Skids Into Canal
A 17‑year‑old boy drowned after the motorcycle he borrowed from a friend skidded on a curved road and fell into a canal in Nakhon Ratchasima province. Officials located the submerged bike but not the rider, prompting a search that involved drone units, rescue teams and police. His body was recovered from about four metres of water the next morning.
A 17‑year‑old who borrowed a friend’s motorcycle to run an errand lost control on a curve and the bike plunged into a canal, resulting in his death. Police found the submerged motorcycle but not the rider, and called in an underwater search team. On 8 October 2026, Tafob Subdistrict Mayor Sahapop Karinsungnin, together with officials, deployed a drone to join the search for the missing teen in the irrigation canal between Ban Nong Rangka and Ban Tafob in Pak Thong Chai district. Before the accident, Anarak (17) had taken the bike at 8 p.m. on 7 October to run an errand and then disappeared. At 9 a.m. the following day, relatives and rescue workers reached the scene on the road running parallel to the canal in Moo 1, Tafob Subdistrict, where the road curved and showed skid and brake marks. A passerby looked down and saw the motorcycle underwater but could not see the victim. Tafob municipal officials then coordinated with Hak 31 Korat rescue unit and Pak Thong Chai police to intensify the search. After more than thirty minutes, rescuers located Anarak’s body about four metres below the surface and brought it ashore amid his family’s grief.
