NONTHABURI - On 8 October 2026, a 41‑year‑old man named Chalermphon surrendered to police after an hours‑long standoff outside a luxury condominium on Rattanathibet Road in Sai Ma, Mueang Nonthaburi. Chalermphon, who was subject to an arrest warrant from Bang Mae Nang Police Station for attempted murder and firearms offences, tried to flee by jumping from the second floor, sustaining a broken leg, then pointed a gun at his own head. Police surrounded the building and began negotiations. After initial talks failed, officers arranged for his wife and son to call him, and later his mother arrived to persuade him. Around 18:30, Chalermphon laid down his weapons after being allowed to hug his mother and wife. A search revealed a second 9 mm pistol in his bag, and the .45‑calibre gun he had held to his head was also seized. He was taken to Phra Nang Klao Hospital for treatment of his leg before being transferred to custody. Police said he will face charges of attempted murder, carrying and discharging firearms in public, possessing firearms and ammunition, and an additional count of carrying a firearm in a public place without permission.
