Thai Badminton Star Sarunrak Wins Vietnam Open 2026

Thai badminton player Sarunrak Wittisaant won the Vietnam Open 2026 women's singles title in Ho Chi Minh City, defeating India's Ishakrani Baruah in straight sets.

The World Tour Super 100 Vietnam Open 2026 badminton championship took place at Nguyen Du Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City on September 13, featuring Thai athletes competing in women's singles and mixed doubles for a combined prize pool of $120,000 (approximately 3.9 million baht).

In women's singles, Sarunrak Wittisaant, ranked 106th globally and sister of player Kulwutti Wittisaant, demonstrated excellent form to defeat India's Ishakrani Baruah, ranked 39th, by scores of 21-8 and 21-15. Sarunrak claimed the championship title and received prize money of $8,250 (approximately 270,000 baht).

In mixed doubles, Bhuvanart Hobbanluekij and Foongfa Gobtharmkij, ranked 7th in the event, lost to China's Ma Si Xiangyin and Chen Hui Zhi with scores of 22-20, 18-21, and 19-21. The Thai pair received consolation prize money of $4,180 (approximately 130,000 baht).
