Thai Shuttler Sarunrak Wins Vietnam Open Title
Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsant won the women's singles title at the Vietnam Open 2026, defeating India's Isharani Baruah 21-8, 21-15, while a Thai mixed doubles pair finished runner-up at the Super 100 tournament in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — Thailand's Sarunrak Vitidsant claimed the women's singles title at the Vietnam Open 2026 on Sunday, while another Thai mixed doubles pair finished runners-up at the Badminton World Tour Super 100 tournament.
The tournament, held at Nguyen Du Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, offered total prize money of US$120,000, or about 3.9 million baht.
In the women's singles final, Sarunrak, ranked 106th in the world, produced a dominant performance against India's Isharani Baruah, ranked 39th, winning 21-8, 21-15.
The victory secured the title for the younger sister of Thai badminton star Kunlavut Vitidsarn, known as "View."
Sarunrak earned US$8,250, or about 270,000 baht, for winning the tournament.
In the mixed doubles final, Thailand's Phuwanat Hopbanluengkit and Fungfah Korpattamakij, seeded No. 7, narrowly missed out on the title.
The Thai pair lost to China's Ma Si Xiyang and Qin Hui Ji 22-20, 18-21, 19-21 in a closely fought three-game match.
Phuwanat and Fungfah received US$4,180, or about 130,000 baht, as runners-up.
