Man, 55, Found Dead on Home Stairs
A 55-year-old man was found dead at the base of his home's staircase in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province after friends discovered him unresponsive; authorities believe stress from chronic illness and depression contributed to his death.
On the evening of September 13, Deputy Superintendent Nagorn Tharma of Sara Bua Police Station received a report of a death inside a residential home in Sara Bua Subdistrict, Kabinburi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Officers responded with a forensic doctor from Kabinburi Hospital and rescue volunteers from the Thai Dharma Foundation.
At the scene, a two-story concrete house, officers found the body of Pisit (surname withheld), aged 55, positioned upright at the base of the stairs leading to the second floor. He was wearing a blue short-sleeved shirt and black shorts. A preliminary examination of his body found no signs of injury or struggle. Police discovered several bags of antibiotics and other medications belonging to the deceased placed inside the house.
When questioned, the deceased's close friend said he had arrived at the house for their usual meal together but found it dark with the iron door locked from inside. Repeated calls went unanswered. Concerned, he and two neighbors forced the lock open and entered. When they turned on the lights and searched the house, they were shocked to discover Pisit's body standing at the foot of the second-floor stairs.
Initial investigation suggests the death resulted from accumulated stress related to chronic illness, combined with depression, which led to the tragic outcome. Rescue workers transported the body to the morgue at Kabinburi Hospital, pending collection by relatives for religious rites.
