Retired Official Found Dead After Two Weeks in Home
An 81-year-old retired government official was discovered dead at the foot of his home's stairs in Ang Thong Province, with police estimating he had been there for at least two weeks before neighbors found him.
On September 24 at 3:30 p.m., Bang Chak Police Station received a report of a death inside a residential home in Wisetchai District, Ang Thong Province. Deputy Investigation Officer Nattapong Nut-charoen led a team including a duty medical examiner from Wisetchai Hospital and staff from the Pho Thet Tung Foundation to investigate. The deceased was found at the foot of the stairs inside the home, identified as the homeowner, age 81, a retired government official. The body was wearing a black t-shirt and shorts, lying on its back with significant decomposition exposing parts of the skeleton. An umbrella was found nearby. Initial examination found no signs of robbery or forced entry. Police estimate the death occurred at least two weeks prior, though the exact cause remains undetermined. The body was sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine under the Ministry of Justice for detailed autopsy. Neighbors confirmed they had not seen the deceased for over two weeks before checking on the home and discovering the body at the stairs. The deceased lived alone in the house, though relatives occasionally visited.
